PokerStars announces intentions to add “Seat Me” feature to the PokerStars software. Twitch streamer TonkaaaaP signs with 888poker as their newest ambassador. Check out these stories and more in the Thursday Hit and Run.

PokerStars Seat Me Feature Likely Coming to Software

A few days ago we informed you about some minor changes to the PokerStars lobby that will happen next month. On Wednesday, PokerStars announced potential changes that would drastically impact the way games are found at the site. PokerStars revealed via their blog that they intend to introduce a PokerStars Seat Me feature, its latest effort to make their games more appealing to recreational players.

Once the new feature launches (which is TBA) players will select a desired game and limit of their choosing. From there, the PokerStars Seat Me feature will randomly place the player on a new table. Traditionally on PokerStars and most other online poker sites, players have been able to choose the exact table they wish to play. Players often choose a table based on the stats of the table (i.e. pot size or flop percentage) or by the usernames of those who are seated at the table.

The new feature will be first tested on, the regulated Spanish version of PokerStars. The poker room will then review the results before expanding the feature elsewhere.

This is yet another effort by PokerStars to level the playing field between recreational and professional players. During 2016, PokerStars introduced initiatives to get rid of datamining, match players randomly, improve payout structures and add additional on-demand functionality.

PokerStars believes that Seat Me will greatly reduce bumhunting, prevent seating scripts and mimic the live experience of choosing cash games. PokerStars is also contemplating time penalties to reduce the motivation of players to switch tables fo find a game of their liking.

– Everyone loves a good Phil Hellmuth rant. It’s hard to pick from the huge basket of Hellmuth meltdowns, but PokerStars has done just that (h/t f5Poker).
